Common questions

How do I join a room?

Open AthenaComm, tap Join a room, and type the code your host shared and a name for yourself, like "LX" or "Deck L". No account needed. If you've joined a show before, tap Join on its card.

How do I talk?

Hold the big button while you talk and let go when you're done. To keep your mic open without holding, switch on Lock Mic On. When you're live, the button turns green and says You are live, so you always know.

Does it work with the screen locked?

Yes. Once you're in a room, lock the phone and put it in your pocket: you'll keep hearing everyone. On Android an "On comms" notice stays at the top of the screen while you're in a room; that's what keeps it running.

It says "Reconnecting"

Your phone lost its connection, often when walking out of Wi-Fi range. AthenaComm gets you back on by itself. If it takes long, check that Wi-Fi or mobile data is on.

I can't hear anyone

Turn the phone's volume up while you're in the room, and check where the sound is going: earbuds or Bluetooth headphones take it over when they're connected.

It says my mic is in use

Another app has your microphone, often a phone call or a voice recorder. Nobody can hear you until it lets go; it works again by itself when the microphone is free.

The room is full, or I can't start a room

The host's plan sets how many people fit in a room and how many rooms or shows they can have. The host can see their plan in the app under Settings.

What are Calls?

The host can send a short message like "Places" or "5 minutes" to the people they choose. Your phone chimes and shows it; tap Acknowledge so the host knows you got it.

How do I delete my data or my account?

In the app: Settings, then Account. Guests tap Delete my data; hosts tap Delete account. Without the app, use the Delete my data page.

Important: AthenaComm runs on phones and venue networks. Never use it as the only channel for flying, rigging, automation, pyrotechnics or any life-safety cue.
